We are very excited about embarking on a collaborative journey with IRC, NGO partners and six governments in Africa and Asia. Together, we are working to strengthen the systems that will deliver resilient and equitable WASH services.

IRC is evolving from being a siloed player in the water, sanitation and hygiene sector to be a network rooted in the Global South that aims to use its expertise in water and sanitation to drive wider systems change in public and essential services. Our Global Programme took further steps to live up to its name in 2024, i.e. a global programme that collectively builds on teamwork and our impacts at district, national and regional levels to influence at the global level for support to water, sanitation and hygiene system strengthening and change. This included publishing on key topics such as systems leadership, water supply for long-term refugees, sanitation finance and alternatives to community water supply.
'Reaching up' and 'reaching out', were the critical drivers of IRC's Global Programme in 2024. In our mission to inform, influence and inspire decision makers to place lasting water, sanitation and hygiene services at the core of their priority commitments, policy and investment strategies, we 'reached up' mobilising and inspiring national leaders to leverage their influence and resources to ensure a world where everyone has access to water, sanitation and hygiene by 2030. Three countries launched compacts under the Heads of State Initiatives in which IRC through One For All is a core partner. We 'reached out' to those working in finance, social justice, health and climate to understand the whole picture, address root causes and drive relevant solutions to achieve effective public services and justice for all. Our engagements in global events including inspiring sessions at the World Water Forum, the Collective Action Forum, Stockholm World Water Week and the World Urban Forum.
