In March 2013, SNV appointed Megan Richie as Managing Director for Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH). She leads SNV's global initiatives in the WASH sector.
Prior to her appointment as Managing Director, Ms Richie served as Country Director for SNV in Lao PDR, where she led SNV's WASH activities across Asia. She was also sponsor director for WASH, coordinating the formulation of SNV's global approach to the sector in 2012. In her years with SNV, Ms Richie has also been Country Director of SNV Bhutan and manager of the UNWTO ST-EP (Sustainable Tourism Alleviating Poverty) programme.
Before joining SNV, Ms Richie was a senior lecturer at La Trobe University, Australia and the principal consultant at Blue Gorm, an Australia-based private consultancy firm specialising in capacity development with rural communities. She holds a degree in Business Management and a Masters in policy/planning.
Ms Richie's appointment is part of SNV's transition from geographical to sector steering, with a focus on Agriculture, WASH and Renewable Energy.
