| Abstract | This is a summary paper of a more complete working paper that introduces the concepts and methods of the Community Water Plus project. The project seeks to get a better understanding of the amount and type of support - the plus - that is provided to community service providers, to ensure that rural water services are sustainable. This summary explains some of the key concepts we use in the research, such as the service providers and their relation to the enabling support entities, those organisations that provide direct support to communities. It then summarises the main research methods to be used at the the three levels of analysis: the household, the community and the enabling support entity.
