Health matters : public health in North-South perspective

This publication consists of a comparison between public health in the Northern and Southern parts of the world. It examines whether both sides are convinced that our health matters. Consideration is given of the problems that arise both in and outside the field of health care. The publication seeks to answer the question of creating a connected approach to global health issues. The present approach to health matters needs to change fundamentally. But how? This book covers some of these issues and provokes debate on how to address future challenges. The book is the result of the conference: Public health in North - South perspective, which took place in Amsterdam in 1993. The themes of the conference were taken up and extended by around 40 authors in this book. They describe the developments in their particular field of specialization, while at the same time placing their findings in the context of issues and experiences affecting the North and South.
