| Abstract | The performance of three types of seed (terminalia Chebula, terminalia belerica and morinda citrifolia) as natural coagulants was compared to that of alum. Although less effective on their own, the use of the natural coagulants as coagulant aids did improve turbidity removal. It was also found that higher doses of natural coagulants did not substantially improve performance and that they were more efficient in the pH range of 7 to 7.5. The addition of coagulant aid followed by alum gave better results in the case of t. belerica and morinda citrifolia, while in the case of t. Chebula simultaneous addition proved better. |
