Principles and practices for inclusive sanitation : a case study from Ethiopia

Disabled people represent the largest socially excluded groups and most live without access to basic sanitary services, which can exacerbate impairments and poverty. As a result, disabled people tend to be excluded from research and development interventions.
This report by WaterAid is based on case studies from Ethiopia. It sets out key principles and relevant practices for development organisations which are working towards empowering disabled people, and recommends that inclusive development is favoured over interventions which are specifically targeted at disabled people.[authors abstract]
