Abstract

The film provides a view of the stages which were followed to set up a suitable piped water project in Hadummulla, Sri Lanka. The first stage was that of research. After that there were a series of participatory meetings between the researchers, technicians and the community of Haidunmmulla. The third step was the phase of preparatory work e.g. cleaning the path, cutting trenches, preparing the ground and laying the pipes. This third stage was done by the people of Haidunmmulla themselves. In the fourth stage, that of the operation and maintenance, lectures were given to the community on the basic facts of operation and maintenance. The last phase was that of the evaluation. This was done by going asking the people about the results of the newly installed piped water system.
