| Abstract | This report reveals the widespread contamination of the United State's drinking water by toxic and cancer-causing chemicals such as lead, trihalomethanes, arsenic, and radioactivity. It shows that millions' of peoples' water supplies contain parasites, bacteria, and other microorganisms. It also shows that although tens of thousands of water suppliers are known to be in violation of the Safe Drinking Water Act's health protection rules, in the vast majority of cases (including cases of the most serious violations), timely and appropriate enforcement action is taken neither by the state nor the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). |
